the principles of faith and doctrine of the love of Jesus family church

 ministries

The church accepts the Scriptures as the revealed will of God, and adopts these Statements of Fundamental Truths and Doctrine.

1.   At the fundamental core of our beliefs is this one profound truth: there is but one true and living God, eternally existing in one essence, yet in three co-equal persons, which is what we commonly refer to as the Godhead, or the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. All are co-equal and co-eternal (I John 5:7).

2.   We believe that all scripture is divinely inspired and serves as the final authority in all matters pertaining to our beliefs and behavior.  We thus believe that the Holy Bible in its entirety is the infallible, inspired Word of God and, to us, the final arbiter of our faith and conduct. (II Timothy 3:15-17, I Peter 1:23-25; Hebrews 4:12).

3.   We believe that mankind was created in the image of God, but rebelled against God and thereby invited not only his own physical death, but spiritual death, which is separation from God.  As such, all of humanity is born with sinful and rebellious nature and is therefore doomed to remain eternally separated from its Creator. His only hope of redemption is in Jesus Christ, the Son of God (Genesis 1:26-31, 3:1-7; Romans 5:12-21).

4.   Salvation of Man

      a. We believe that God authored a plan of salvation in order to redeem His fallen creation and, in the fulfillment of same, sent His son, Jesus, to earth to pay the full penalty of all our sins (John 3:16-18).  â€‹â€‹

      b. Having died for the sins of the world as our very own personal substitute, we believe that anyone who calls upon the name of Jesus, and believes that God raised Jesus from the dead, shall be justified or "saved" from his or her sins.  This belief is commonly referred to as imputed righteousness, which simply means that salvation from sin and its consequences is available to all who accept Christ's sacrifice.  Accordingly, all who receive the Lord Jesus Christ by faith are "born again" and thereby become children of God and heirs of eternal life with Christ.  Sadly, the reverse is also true: all those who reject Jesus Christ shall perish and be eternally damned (Romans 10:9&10).

      c. We thus believe that Jesus is the only begotten Son of God; that He was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin (Luke 1:27-35).

      d. We believe that Jesus lived and demonstrated His deity through numerous miracles.  We also believe that He was crucified, buried and resurrected from death on the third day.

      e. We believe Jesus then appeared in the flesh to His disciples and to many others before ascending into heaven and taking His seat at the right hand of God.

      f. The inward evidence, to the believer, is the direct witness of the spirit (Romans 8:16).  The outward evidence to all men is a life of true holiness and love (I John 3:23; John 13:35).

      g. Salvation is by faith in Jesus Christ and not by human works; however, our works are evidence of our faith and will determine our rewards in eternity (II Corinthians 5:10; Ephesians 2:8-9; Titus 3:-7; James 2:14-26).

5.   We believe in remembering the Lord's death through the worshipful act of Communion.  This is commonly referred to as the celebration of the Lord’s Supper by eating of the bread and drinking of the cup (I Corinthians 11:24-30).

6.   We believe in sanctification through the Word of God and through the power of the Holy Spirit at work in our lives (John 17:17, Ephesians 5:26).

7.   We believe that, among many other things, the Holy Spirit is the third person of the Godhead, who convicts the world of sin, righteousness and judgment, and who empowers Christians to live a life that brings glory to God and that measures up to the standards set in God's Word (Galatians 5:22, Ephesians 5:9).  We also believe that there are different kinds of spiritual gifts which are bestowed by the Holy Spirit upon Christians in the service of the Lord and for the good and profit of all (John 16:7&8, Acts 1:8, 1 Corinthians 12:1-11).

8.   We believe in water baptism, a most profound symbol of the Christian's decision to walk in the newness of life in Christ Jesus. Baptism (by immersion) in water is a declaration to the world that a believer has died with Christ and that they have been raised with Him to walk in newness of life (Acts 2:37-39, Acts 10:47-48; Rom. 6:4). We further believe that water baptism is an ordinance of the church that was ordered by Jesus Christ himself.  “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost” (Matthew 28:19).

9.   We believe that all believers are entitled to, and should ardently expect and earnestly seek, the promise of the Father, the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, according to the command of Jesus Christ.  With this comes the endowment of power for life and service, the bestowment of gifts and their uses in the work of the ministry.  This experience is distinct from and subsequent to the experience of the new birth ( Luke 24:49, Acts 1:4-8, 2:38-39, 10:44-46, 11:14-16, 15:7-9; I Corinthians 12:1-31).

10. We believe that the Evidence of the Baptism of the Holy Spirit is evidenced by the initial physical sign of being able to speak with other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance and by the subsequent manifestation of spiritual power in public testimony and service (Acts 2:1-4, 10:44-46, 19:1-6, 1 Corinthians 14:2).

11. We believe that the Church is the Body of Christ.  Each believer is an integral part (Ephesians 1:22, 2:19-22; 1 Corinthians 12:27, Romans 12:5).

12. We believe that, individually and collectively, we have been created by God to worship Him.  Therefore, the chief purpose of our church is to glorify God, which we shall do in our public worship services and prayer meetings, with our preaching of the Scriptures, by evangelism and missionary endeavors and through the witness of our devout lifestyles (John 4:23-24, Psalms 86:9).

13. We believe in Total Prosperity

      a. Spiritual (John 3:3, II Corinthians 5:17-21, Romans 10:9-10).

      b. Mental (II Timothy 1:7, Romans 12:2, Isaiah 26:3).

      c. Physical (Isaiah 53:4-5, Matthew 8:17; I Peter 2:24).

      d. Financial (III John 1:2, Malachi 3:10-12, Luke 6:38; II Corinthians 9:6-10, Deuteronomy 28:1-14).

      e. Socially (Proverbs 3:4).

14. We believe in the Blessed Hope: Jesus is coming again to gather all his Saints to Heaven

(I Corinthians 15:51-56, I Thessalonians 4:16-17).

15. We believe that those who have not accepted the redemptive work of Jesus Christ will suffer eternal separation from the Godhead (John 3:3, John 14:6, Revelation 20:10-15).

16. We believe in the Millennial Reign of Jesus: The return of our lord Jesus Christ, with His Saints from Heaven to rule and reign for one thousand years on earth as the scriptures have promised (Revelation 20:1-7).

17. We believe that after this there will be a new heaven and a new earth (Revelation 21).
